@tapirs.greens: The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) said on Monday (Jul 21) it was looking into an alleged fraudulent work injury claim made against EatGreen, the operator of eatery Sumo Salad. The Singapore Police Force (SPF) also said that investigations were ongoing into the unnatural death of Ms Jane Lee, Sumo Salad's owner. Ms Lee, who was in her 40s, died on Saturday after making two Facebook posts about an employee who allegedly faked a workplace injury to seek compensation from the company. #sgnews #sgtiktok #rip

There a group a group of ‘Lawyer’ representing some organisation ti help workers in all these claim and guess what who took the majority sum? I can tell you not the worker! Back then many this sort of Lawyer have ppl waiting at that Balstier office giving name card and encouraging worker to do whatever claim they can from employer

The mother of two also claimed that the couple had used similar tactics before, possibly with the help of a legal firm that, she alleged, advised foreign workers on how to exploit injury claims for compensation.

I do not know her, but her stories ache me greatly. I hope she's in a better place now. ❤️My Guess: Her insurance coverage didn't / or not enough to cover this workers injury, so she most probably facing Hundreds of thousand of fraud claims, like potential loss of income in X Years. (Similar to car accidents fraud claims). How? She gonna take hundreds of thousands of bank loan just to pay this joker? Yes, she facing this alone. Anyone in this situation will be facing this alone. Nobody can help but listen only. The the Mom, they can't do much, they are not doctors and they are in no position to say this workers is faking or not. They all rely on the doctor's report. To bring this matter to the Judge.... How much money she gonna waste? And if she lose.... She gonna pay more. So guess now, u all know how stress up she was. I really hope Singapore Govt gives her a Justice so she can really rest in peace. 💐

There are just too many stressful things to handle in F&B business, and I believe this is the last straw that crushed her. I was once in F&B before but withdrew fast enough before straining too much financially, physically and mentally. RIP... 🌻

Why must MOM start taking their investigations seriously only after something tragic has happened? If not, they'll just be sitting on the matter and taking their own sweet time to act. The same applies to every other govt bodies.

MOM only aims for employers when employee complains. Why is it not balanced, when employer complains employees if they cheat send them to jail as well, cheat includes being late for work etc

MOM and SPF do your duty please. These scammers have cost the life of a good hardworking Singaporean. They gum up and game the system, waste resources and time, collude to defraud good people and run things into the ground. The law firm appears complicit in this, please investigate them as well. Bring the full weight of the law to bear on them if wrongdoings are uncovered.

MOM - similar to all government agencies- are only interested to go after the company . Cos when found guilty, they will have the means to pay the fines- the court/ IO need the $ to maintain the salary - Employees- if found guilty , mostly cannot pay fines, so will go jail instead & gov. need to feed them - Just like they go after the money lenders, why not after the people who borrow from them

Jane also thanked her staff, listing several long-time employees by name and informing them she had transferred funds to them as a gesture of gratitude. She named individuals who had worked with her for more than a decade, describing their loyalty and support as deeply meaningful.
