JP :
I’m a white man. Grew up in a small town around a lot of angry, sad young white men (thankfully not me, I got out, got educated, and had good parents - thank god). I’m in a different place in my life now in my thirties, and again because of my parents raising me with decency and my father being well educated, I never aligned with their beliefs…..but I will admit I was friends with some of these “angry white men” in high school. Who believed some nasty things - and whose beliefs are the main reason we are not friends today. You are spot on. And when those systems of Privilige start to break down, they react violently. I can tell you unequivocally that I have never had the displeasure of being around a more entitled, lame, sorry, pathetic group of men than these Republican white boys. It is not an accident that all of my former “friends” I cut off for their nasty, racist beliefs still work factory jobs for 14 bucks an hour and live in moms basement; and all of my black and brown friends went on to law school (like me),or medical school, or are analysts at big name companies. I’m sorry but it’s true. They want to talk that talk about “I’m not being racist I’m noticing patterns…” well there’s one for you! Coming from a white guy.
