HEAR ME OUT: If you have to worsen a character of a love triangle to make the other “main” love interest tolerable, then the main love interest wasn’t a good one. Jeremiah was obviously the better choice until they wrote in the “cheating trope” to make Conrad look like the better brother when in reality he wasn’t.

When I read the books I genuinely thought Jeremiah was just the sweetest and didn’t understand why she ended up with Conrad. In the show I am team Jeremiah but why r they getting rid of that caretaking side of him. They could have just followed to books and had her end with Conrad idk the point of all these differences just to make Conrad seem better. I was really looking forward to Jeremiah taking care of belly and now they make their relationship seem more like belly’s the one to take care of Jere which makes me upset

I am team Jere and read the books maybe 15 years ago & I LOVE these books. It’s clear that JH added the cheating part bc she needed a reason for Conrad and Belly to end up together but Jere in the books truly was the BEST & the cheating felt so out of left field. I can appreciate the bad edit he’s getting because they are trying to drive home it’s always going to be Conrad, so that when it happens it’s an easier pill to swallow

my main thing is the whole “super senior” thing doesn’t even make sense bc that just doesn’t exist in university. like yeah sure four years for a bach is the societal norm but it’s not an actual standard bc your ‘grade’ is only determined by how many credits you have towards your degree… a super over achiever can be a senior in their second or third year and someone who needs to be in class part time could take 5+ years to graduate.

Also one of my biggest issues because me I felt extremely uncomfortable when he described the interaction with Lacy to belly. And I don't know if the show intended it to be that way or they didn't but it doesn't come across in a way that I think it should. Because I feel like if roles were reversed and that was a girl describing her encounter people would take it exactly the way that it sounds like.

IMO… this is happening because they absolutely realized that fans criticized Conrad and a good portion of people wished she ended up with Jer. So, they have to make Jer feel TERRIBLE in the show in hopes that that won’t happen again.

and then we have other characters like steven and laurel dismiss jeremiah's emotional depth throughout the story. and it seems like they're emphasizing this in the show. it really does feel like they're doubling down on these changes intentionally

Yes! The changes are truly off putting. If it were verbatim to the book I’d be fine, but making it worse and just giving everyone more ammo to hate him makes it a stressful watch, so far.

Him doing the internship also becomes important to why he isn’t around and doesn’t help plan the wedding in the books. So they’re either going to further villainize him by making him not help just cause, or they’re going to make the internship be something his dad is forcing him to do to pay him back the 20k.

when he says: "we are not all like that" during the fight before Cabo, it grinds my gears that it was left out in the show. By cutting that line, the show took away his chance to speak for himself. They removed his self-awareness on purpose so that the “frat boy” narrative would stick more easily. It’s like they wanted people to believe he was just shallow or immature when nothing about his season 2 arc actually supports that. That line was so important, he was defending his character in a vulnerable moment and he made it clear that he did not want to be lumped in with that frat boy behaviour. It feels icky, like the writer didn’t want him to have that nuance because it would’ve made endgame harder to justify.

They will never make me leave Team Jere. And you’re right super senior doesn't exist in college. People have to take extra semesters in college to graduate all the time, its not that deep at all.

Did you see Lola saying that it's ridiculous for such a short/quick fight to make Jeremiah think they were broken up? That's where the way they changed it comes in, it was a way worse fight in the book. just pathetic rewriting.

it’s so wild seeing the way these slight changes have just completely thrown off jere’s edit and exacerbated his flaws for the sake of propelling a bonrad endgame, which is happening either way? i feel like, while flawed, jeremiah has been a pretty consistent character up until this point, but season 3 is running with the “he’s regressing into who he’s always been” angle not just for drama, but to ENSURE bellyjere gets the worst edit possible which just seems unnecessary considering a bonrad ending is certain, no matter what. it’s also funny that jere, who was so vocal about making sure conrad didn’t fail out of school, suddenly can’t read an email 😭😭😭😭

As someone who’s only watched the show and is team Jer, it’s laughable how they’ve handled Jer’s character. 😂

I think that the author is giving a twist to the story with which we are going to be surprised. *Lacey*, did he tell the truth? Did you take advantage of the situation? In the book it was never revealed, where was the benefit of the doubt? Why should we believe everything they tell us? Was Jer fully aware of the situation? We are not judges so let's not sentence without having all the evidence.
