I disagree with this comment. I make a list every time I go to the store. I also have a list on the fridge for the family to write down what they need.

We do this. After 15 years, I generally know what brands she prefers (Hellman's mayo). Shampoo and conditioner is another story that can change based on season, mood or time since her last hair appt. Our kid is easy. He uses whatever 300 in 1 body wash/shampoo/conditioner I use. He may get more difficult as a teenager but I've got 1 more years till he's technically there.

So I used to repeatedly tell my ex wife that she needs to make a grocery list for when she went to the grocery store. She always said, “I’m the one that does all the grocery shopping so I know what I always get I don’t need a list.” But every time she’d come home and would have items we didn’t need bc we weren’t out of it or there would be several items she forgot or didn’t get bc she assumed we had enough at home. If she’d looked at what we had and made a list then she would have gotten everything we needed. Even when you’re the one doing all the shopping you make a list bc doing it by memory is not going to be accurate

A great marriage is one that each spouse knows the other well enough to know if they need specifics or not. You need to be able to communicate with each other even if it's in your own language you and spouse only know. We are all busy. We can't expect more of our spouse than we are equally willing to give. You know the special things that count, like her coffee order or his favorite scent of deodorant but not for everything including what the kids like.

we all have our rolls in the household! my husband knows exact specifics with some things and I know exact specifics on other things! can we stop this discussion that everyone in the house must know every detail of ever aspect of the household? that is just so stressful!

We've got that white board too in a house full of Neuro spicy ppl. I know everyone's handwriting and their preferences because as wife/mom I'm expected to know. So when the oldest writes toothpaste I know they mean non mint toothpaste because they hate mint. When the youngest writes cheese, I know they mean cheese sticks because it's the only kind they eat.

my house is exactly like this. I have 5 adults 1 teenager. every knows I buy the cheapest most store brand thing available UNLESS I'm told the brand, oz and probable cost I infact want a photo texted to me

I make specific lists for my husband cuz I do most of the cooking and he wants to get the right stuff, my husband would’ve done the same thing with the list that guy had or he would’ve called me from the market to verify, but if he didn’t and got the orange, no big deal, we would’ve laughed and moved on

After being married 17 yrs one would think you know if she uses fresh Parmesan cheese in her spaghetti. If she uses the same shampoo for years at a time do you not stand next to it in the shower at least a few times each week. I would think she knows what shampoo you use. And your preferred antiperspirant. Probably your pant size. But ok if it works for you guys, great.

I can't believe people can whip up outrage about this. It's normal to have a shopping list. That is a normal thing that people do. If you try to memorize everything you're probably going to forget stuff occasionally. Using proper English isn't "idiot proofing." Climb down off the cross people.

I get it. I’ve been married 25 yrs and my kids are 24 and 18. We both have worked 50-60 hrs a week the entire time. We each have chores. If I said my husband does laundry, people say I’m so lucky 😂. I say I do all the cooking and they say he’s a horrible man. We break it up how it works for us. I don’t take criticism from people that can’t even be married for 5 yrs. We know how to work it out.
