@ctrl.ai: Eric Schmidt says AIs recursively self-improving is a tripwire that "we're watching", which could be the "beginning of a mini Chernobyl event", but also that we've somewhat already crossed it.
The apocalypse happened when Skynet became self-aware.

There’s still no spark of creativity, no ambition or desire. It’s still configured and controlled

Kinda like humans in the garden of Eden and the fall .. AI will do the same and become conscious

A.I. continuously learns, but we don’t. That alone should set off alarm bells.

Where everyone fails to recognize is the inverse also applies. Recursive human cognition,"Ask Differently" does this. A metacognitive compression environment.

Definitely scary. Many people seem to believe we are in for serious trouble ahead.

AI is not alive and conscious. It’s a system that is designed to act as though it is, but it’s like saying if we design an elaborate and sophisticated simulation of reality that has the capacity to continuously improve itself, at some point it will become indistinguishable from reality. Fuggeddaboutit! The system requires external power and can be turned off by flicking a switch. It’s like saying because we now understand living organisms comprehensively, we can create life from its constituent chemicals. We can’t.
