10 More Things I Would Tell You If I Wasn’t Afraid of Hurting Your Feelings (Part Two) -From a Child Psychiatrist- 1.	You are not the only influence on your child. You can be a wonderful parent and your child may still struggle. That doesn’t mean you did something wrong. 2.	You can’t logic your child out of their feelings. Emotional validation has to come before problem-solving. If your child feels dismissed, they will tune you out. 3.	If your child is perfect at school and a wreck at home, that’s a red flag. It means they are holding it together all day and falling apart in the one place they feel safe. That doesn’t mean they’re manipulating you. It means they’re exhausted and we should understand more what’s happening at school. 4.	Obedient, overly compliant children are not the goal. A quiet, agreeable child isn’t always a happy one. Compliance can be a trauma response. The real goal is raising a child who feels safe enough to say no, ask for help, and share their truth. 5.	It’s not all your fault. Or your win. When your child is struggling, that doesn’t mean you’ve failed. When they’re thriving, it doesn’t mean you’ve nailed it. You matter—but you’re not the whole story. 6.	Stop comparing your child to other kids. Growth doesn’t follow a set timeline. Some kids take longer. That doesn’t make them broken. 7.	Your child won’t learn to handle big feelings if you rescue them every time they’re upset. Being uncomfortable is not the same as being unsafe. Learning to stay in hard moments is part of emotional growth. 8.	Listening is more powerful than lecturing. If you want to know what your child is thinking, say less. Give them space to talk. 9.	If your child is in therapy, don’t expect them to do all the work. The whole family has to grow. Change sticks better when it’s shared. 10.	You don’t need to be perfect. You need to be steady. Repair matters more than never messing up. 💛 #childpsychiatrist #GrowthMindsetKids #GrowthMindsetParenting #ResilientKids #ParentingTips #RaisingLearners #CuriousKids #MindsetMatters #ParentingWithPurpose #RaisingThinkers
