I had a graze and half a tear that they couldn’t even class as first degree but stitched it anyway so it didn’t fuse to anything while healing. 6lb 11.5oz baby, I swear by swimming during pregnancy, raspberry leaf tea and dates in the third tri!!

I had an episiotomy on the right side, and had a 4th degree tear (2 holes into 1) on the left side😂😭

The only sure way to avoid tearing is to have a c section. Otherwise you just have to be ready- none of this prep makes any difference because tearing depends on so many other things such as the size of the baby relative to Mum, the speed of contractions ie; how quickly baby comes out (a very quick birth can result in tearing), and whether or not instruments are needed.

sorry girl… 90% of first time births result in some form of tear 🥲 do as much as you can to avoid but prepare for recovery ❤️❤️

Bigger babies are apparently easier to birth! I’ve had two big babies via c-section but I’ve heard horror stories from friends with small babies. I think it’s just luck really 😂

best way not to tear, let nature do it's thing, get in a good position like hands and knees or squat, and don't interfere. Induction, epidural and lying on your back linked to a greater chance of tearing. when observed in physiological birth most babies will do that thing that fish do by pushing against the opening then retreating back a bit then coming forward again then back to try to encourage opening without tearing

🤣If you listen to your midwife and breath instead of pushing you should hardly tear if at all , my only graze was with my 9lb 4 oz boy he was my last of 4 and born at home the others were 6lb4oz/6lb5oz. Never heard of the balloon trick F that get Jamie to do the massage though he would love helping you I’m sure 🤣

be calm in labour. It is painful but it comes in waves. Take the pain and then relax between the pains. The baby has to come out somehow
