@stonetta3: Unpopular opinion over here. You have the choice not to sign your children up for so many extracurricular activities that you have to pay for, or any at all. If you having trouble with finances maybe we need to rethink some things. They can have a good life without so much on their plates. #frugalliving #childhood #MomsofTikTok #savingmoney #unpopularopinion

When you dont do all the after school activities not only do you save money, but you actually get to spend time as a family! Your kid will be just fine.

In my opinion…. I want to strive to give my kids better than I had… did I grow up fine, of course… but I always wanted to be apart of a team. Team sports teach kids life lessons to help them in adulthood.

I let my kids choose. Was not sad when they chose not to do sports. So much time and money and then feeling like a bad parent when you can’t attend everything because you work full time to pay for it.

kids are too busy. they are also not able to get school support at home even though parents have told the teachers not to send homework. grades are not good anymore and they aren't learning what we used to learn when we learned it

if you have medical they will pay for certain activities. I know they will pay for boy scouts for those low income families that want to put their kids in something but feel like they can't afford it. I let my kids pick if they wanted to do it or not but you don't have to of course

it is purely up to your kids. if they want to play a sport then let them try it. but if they don't ask to do those things then I say no don't sign them up. I do not believe in forcing your kids to play sports or do dance or whatever. people put way to much value in kids playing sports especially when it's a small town. in my town if your kid doesn't play sports then you're a bad parent which is ridiculous.

I hate when people think “well I didn’t have it so neither should you”. You should want MORE for your kids in life not the save mediocre childhood.

I told my kids they had to be involved in a team sport at least once. For me, I think it’s important for my kids to experience playing on a team and winning/losing as a team while they’re young. Plus, it was another way for them to make friends outside of school. They both chose soccer last Fall and it was fun! So much, they decided to play again this Fall. My son even asked to play baseball this past Spring, which he enjoyed. If they choose not to continue with team sports, I’m perfectly happy with that, too. They’re also in Ninja, swimming, and tumbling as well. I’ll pay for it and drive them all over the place as long as they want me to.

I wouldn’t call it deprived. I mean I was in sport all through Jr high and High school but my parents struggled so much when I was growing up especially in high school cause I was in the dance team and we did a lot and it cost A lot.

I told my kids they had to pick 1 extra curricular. I belive a kid learning time management and the juggle of responsibility is important. adulting is just that. juggling all our things. its good practice. imo.

My kids really don’t enjoy a lot of sports, or clubs. Our evenings after school are relaxed. As they get older if they show interest sure they try them but I won’t be forcing them into sports and activities

no, it's just the fact of matter, it was nice when we could afford them for them. but as most people's lives are changing we cutting more and more trying to pay for basic needs, it's just not in the budget anymore. just be honest with them and upfront, that that it's just not in the budget, wish we could but we just can't do it, because I have to feed and cloth you.

I remember when my parents got us into gymnastics. The coach thought my sister was very good. My parents asked if she was good enough for the Olympics. He said maybe but they would never see her and basically her coach would raise her. So I think it's whatever you decide. As long as they stay out of trouble they are probably fine.

If my kids asked to do a sport, I did what I could to get them in it. It just happened I only had one kid interested. It seems to be today that it’s the parents that are more competitive about things than the kids…?!

My kids each have one activity. When I was a kid I had an activity basically every night of the week. I was soooo tired.

I’m with you! We only sign up for something if my kids ask, and no more than one thing per kid at a time. I also don’t love the super sports and activities parent culture. Not interested in hanging with other parents who want to make everything competitive and compare who has the most expensive equipment/costumes/travel league.

My oldest played baseball last year, this year he didn’t want to do anything. 😂 I was the super packed schedule kid/teen. I’m definitely enjoying his wanting to stay home.

I want my daughter to be involved in something but I also don’t want her to be so busy that she’s miserable. Life is so fast paced that we are constantly running and not stopping to smell the roses. I’m also 100% putting my foot down on attending events on church days. It makes me so angry that people plan extra curriculars on Sundays
