the ending of the show was he was an autistic child imagining what was going on in a snow globe. it ended in his apartment with two of the main characters of the show being his father and grandfather and him staring into the snow globe.

The thing about that theory is that it was started by comic writer Dwayne McDuffie to basically explain why you shouldn't worry too much about continuity.

I mean, it can just be explained as "he imagined tv characters in his dream as well" or "the people in his dream are real people and their real versions are the ones appearing in collabs". The only way this won't work is if Tommy himself made appearances, which, why can't it also happen after he wakes up?
