This reminds me of the play the tape forward strategy in sobriety. When you want a drink you think about how you will feel tomorrow (disappointed, sick, etc) and you accept the disappointment now instead of the much worse disappointment tomorrow.

Great way to think about it. I always try to imagine how I’m going to feel physically later; bloated, nauseous, sleepy, etc.
