It is about not changing. The church could have chosen to change but they dug in and hid and put their heads in the sand. The 2 popes have finally started to be open to change while thinking about the message.

I grew up in the Pentecostal church and could not get out of there fast enough. Organized religion is a tool for manipulation, dominance and control over people. One can be a follower of Jesus’ teachings and need not ever step foot inside a church.

The decline in faith-based institutions is due to Republicans hijacking Christianity and molding the belief system into something that it is not. They have made Christianity reprehensible to people of color, the LGBTQ public, and free thinkers. Donald Trump is not a Christian. Donald Trump can't quote anything from the Bible. But they herald him up like he is a saint. The fusion of politics and religion has destroyed peoples' faith.

If churches want people to come, they have to provide value. People won’t do things anymore because you tell them to. American Society has passed that. You can put the 10 Commandments in classrooms that doesn’t mean anything.
