I have hEDS. My PT explained to me that since my ligaments are so weak around my joints, my muscles tighten or spasm to compensate. The result is tightness and stiffness of joints that used to be hypermobile. I have a subluxing hip & my glutes are in a constant state of spasm to hold my hip together

bc i couldn't touch the floor the rheumatologist said I have hypermobility Syndrome. I explained I got up first thing that morning and drove 2 hours to her. and that is a regular morning issue for me but most days about halfway through the day I loosen up enough to do it. she dismissed it.

hEDS here! used to be flexible and be able to put my foot behind my head and weird “party tricks” and not so much now. On a day to day I can not do that but with a lot of stretching and preparation, I was good enough to check that point on the beighton scale after forcing myself and making myself hurt, but muscle tension and pain prevent it literally any other time.

I cannot touch the ground but I got an 8/9 😭 and that’s the reason I didn’t get diagnosed either. 🙃

I haven’t been able to touch hands to the floor for half my life because of tight hamstrings. PT has me doing an exercise that stretches my hamstrings and I was able to touch the floor the other day for the first time in 15-20 years! Can only do it after the stretches. Otherwise the muscles retighten with a day or two and I can’t again.

I’ve never been able to until I did a certain stretch but if I quit doing the stretches I would go back to not being able to. I was flexible everywhere else except for that.

I can touch the floor. So can my 76 year old mom. She’s not diagnosed hEDS but I am. She refuses to admit she has it.

HEDS here. I can’t because my hammys are SO protective now as an adult. Like I swear I lost half of them in length, like they shrunk.

This was a PT you were seeing? I'm just starting my diagnosis journey and I'm trying to figure out who I need to see for documentation and testing.

I’m 40 and I can still put my hands flat on the ground. I can still put my thumb to my wrist/ arm but it causes a lot of pain at this point.
