movies/tv always shows black gangs or “thugs” as a means to make us afraid. Purely racist imagery shoved in our faces from childhood. Just a thought

I think if they grow up in a white area and only see what’s portrayed in movies or worse what is only shown in the news that’s the idea they get. I grew up in a very middle class racially diverse neighborhood and my dad’s best friend was black so we spent a lot of time with him and his extended so for me I have never felt threatened. In fact I don’t understand when people won’t go places because of “the scary black people”.

Can’t speak for everyone, but ‘fear of the unknown’ leaps to mind. Also, despite having talked away most of our instincts, human beings can still read body language, maybe only subconsciously, but we can tell when someone is uncomfortable around us.

Because certain areas are dangerous for white people mostly in cities in rural areas I’m sure it’s the opposite

Grew up on a small island in Canada with limited cable tv and diversity - our affiliated news (ABC) came from Detroit. I moved to STL in my 20’s. I was so naive, I wouldn’t take my trash out at night. 😂 Very ignorant.

Sad to say but our parents brought us up that way .. It took me a couple years to get that out of my head and now I am marrying a black person in two days ❤️

oh mine is great.. hear me out.. I was born 1990 in Ireland.. didn't see many black ppl in my town as a child.. if I did they where alway men, really tall, dressed in suits and white coat or green scrubs 🤔 I was TERRIFIED 😨
because I was getting injections or been operated on.. it was later I realised they didn't live in the hospital and had family's.
I was a strange kid 1🤪

Hmm... I was very grateful for the Black gentlemen who stepped up to help me on and off the light rail in Denver. I can't jet propel my self up or down the steps of those cars.

Just because a person is white doesn’t mean their opinions will be similar. You can’t judge a group based on the thoughts of individual members

I grew up in a very white area of Houston called Spring. I could probably name all my black classmates on one hand. Then we moved to Minnesota. Not a ton of black people up there so my limited exposure was the news

They were probably raised that way. you have to judge people for their character.
