That’s nice. My family tradition is normal weddings. My parents, grandparents, great grandparents all had them. So there 👍🏻

If it was originally created to make the woman more “comfortable” why isn’t THAT the tradition? Why doesn’t she get to decide what sort of wedding she’s comfortable with? The math ain’t mathin.

There’s something weirdly patriarchal about getting married with all men, and then having a “seperate party” with the women two weeks later. Ask your fiance how he feels about switching those two — getting married with the women, and then throwing the men a special party. His reaction will tell you more about what this tradition means to his family.

My wedding is supost to be one of the happiest days of my life. Being the only woman in a room with all and only (eventually) drunk men it’s not a description of a happy day, even if they are family and friends.

What about her traditions which include having family at the wedding! It sounds like they are trying to isolate her

They did this for 1 bride once for her unique situation .. so why impose this on anyone else?! I would cancel the wedding too if my friends couldn’t be there

Why is it always “you need to compromise” and it’s not worth ending a relationship over something this small, but they won’t budge?

You can slap "Germany" and "Poland" on there as much as you want, but this has 'American' written all over it.

Even family traditions depend on YOUR CONSENT. If you're not OK with it, you're not OK with it.

it’s not a compromise if one person gets to bulldoze over the other person’s wants. His family tradition sucks and only worked for his family WAY back then. They just want to impose it on everyone else unnecessarily. He can’t have it all his way and expect her to be fine with that.

Your own family tradition of having a regular wedding is doubtless the older tradition.

Hi :
Nah that’s weird af. if he wants only men at the first “wedding” then he can marry his best man. Gives you time to pack up and run bc wtf? This sounds like a horror movie set up😂

well if "it's just a family tradition and not to worry" then he shouldn't worry about it when she says her family tradition is to have ALL friends and family present on one wedding day
