I keep saying over and over and over and OVER AGAIN that if we censor this or that because it's immoral or illegal then LGBTQ+ content will be on the chopping block next. And I get it, I do, it's terrible that there are some vile corners of fandom out there that are writing about truly problematic things, and I wish they weren't, but people have got to realise that it will not start and end with only those.

It used to be that fans of noncon and other awful things kept it away from the spotlight. They were fine with having their own space and if you wanted you could go there. Nowadays you open AO3 search something and there’s “non-con” right there. 😭

I just got into trouble into trouble on a Gideon the ninth discord server because I offendedly mentioned s3x parti3s ... if you don't know that series it mentions such parties several time and Makes lots of lewd jokes. I didn't describe anything I just say I attend them. the mods said I "wasn't in trouble" but deleted my message and want me to rewrite it without the reference. ??? yes there are a couple of minirs but they are 16/17 and most importantly if they have read the book then they already know what that is??? I thought a locked tumb server would be ideal???for such discussions???

This isn't even just a fanfiction discussion either. because let's say someone succeeds in bringing censorship to Ao3. it only takes one person with the right connections to see that and take it to real law makers and start applying the same arguments. point out that it was successful and then boom. book banning and book burnings are back. real books. published works. non fiction historical texts and educational books. this is bigger than fandom.
