@cascadiaclassic: It takes friends in high places 😎 #bigblock #3pedals #1of1 #fordperformance #savethemanuals A highly unique 1967 Ford Country Squire wagon with a Q-code 428ci V8 and a four-speed manual transmission sold on Bring a Trailer on May 25, 2020, for $47,750. This particular vehicle was a special order, reportedly requiring approval from then-Ford executive Lee Iacocca, making it a "1 of 1" example with this powertrain combination for the 1967 model year. It also featured front bucket seats and a center console, unusual for a family wagon. Discovered by "Barn Find Hunter" Tom Cotter, the car was featured on his show before being offered for sale. Despite its "patina" (faded paint and faux woodgrain), its rarity and unique specifications made it a significant and highly sought-after collector's item.

Those were the days. Now when you try and configure a car selecting black mirror caps removes AWD and the V6 option.

A personal letter from Lee Iacocca with the car backing it up is a true treasure.

My grandfather was the first in the Chicago area to get the Mitsubishi Starion. He has having issues getting the first allocation for it, he contacted Lee Iacocca, the President of Chrysler, and the ambassador for Mitsubishi at the time. My grandfather told Iacocca that he wanted the first starion, and Lee made it happen, my grandfather drove over 500 miles to a Mitsubishi dealer across the state to pick up his Starion, Lee had agreed to free maintenance for the life of ownership, all repairs were good willed and used for data collection for Mitsubishi and Chrysler

Cool story. Lee got it- didn’t turn down the customer, or the money.

I usually don't like these 1-1 car stories but in this case it's badass. I absolutely love performance wagons and I'm assuming Iacocca thought so to. Imagine going out for a family night and blowing the doors off pretty much everything 🤭

my old boss has a similar story about pre ordering a mustang 2 when they came out they gave him the wrong pamphlet and what came was a mustang 2 with a V8 he said all it would do was burnouts so he took it back so somewhere out there is a first year mustang 2 with a big V8 engine code
