I grew up incredibly poor with a sick mom and a dad that worked 60+ hours a week. The only children's TV we had was PBS kids. It was a predictable, safe part of an often scary and lonely childhood. I'm so grateful for anyone who made shows like Arthur, Cyberchase, Zoom and many others possible

I grew up severely abused, my mother locked me in a room and only feed me bread with mustard. I was so neglected I didn’t speak until I was 5 and lost my hair because of stress- the only good thing in my life was Big bird and Mr. Roger’s- I have tears in my eyes while I type this, thinking other kids will not have this comfort. People can be so cruel….

PBS was home, we woke up with Arthur, we spent the weekend with the cyberspace kids in cyberspace, or a Chinese palace with sagwa. I watched barney when I was being bullied. PBS is a safe place

“Bein’ a kid was hard, I confess, but it was better with PBS” a sentiment shared by so many of us 🥲🥲🥲
