I had a hysterectomy in 2009. After that, my paps went from every year, to every 5 years per my GYN’s recommendation. 🤷🏻♀️

I had to get them for 5 yrs later because cancer cells can still be detected for up to that long. But I never had cancer to begin with… 🤷🏻♀️

I have a condition called MRKH. And I also had a hysterectomy. I have a NP call me (not mine) and try and a schedule a Pap smear. I explained I don’t get those. She got so mad. I said if this is a big issue then my NP can call me. So she angrily hung up. 5 min my NP calls me and apologizes for the other person. And goes “I know you don’t get those, so your fine”

had a partial hysterectomy in '98 still have to have a semi kind of pap to check to make sure there's no growths or anything..not exactly a pap just the quick hand in and out exam every like 5 yrs

If they didn’t take out Ur Cervix, this yes they will still do Paps. Paps are to check for Cervical Cancer.

Same! In the same sentence no less! “I see you had a full hysterectomy in 2018, so, let’s get your PAP Smear done!” And I was like, “Ummm…… I don’t need one?” “Why?” And I said “re-read what you just read in my chart.” “OHHHHHHHH”

I had a full hysterectomy in 2005. A few years ago a new doc wanted to do a quick peak. I was like why? Its an empty cavern. Lol she got upset. Still no.

Or “is there any chance you could be pregnant?” after reading out loud that I had a hysterectomy 2 years and my reply is “well my name isn’t Mary and I am not engaged to a guy named Joseph”…..followed by “if I am then I am sueing my gynecologist!!!!”

A pap is a screening for cervical cancer. If you had a hysterectomy that removed the cervix then there is nothing to look at. Just say no. You probably don’t even need to see a gynecologist anymore unless you are having other issues. Talk to your primary doctor
