I’ve learned to forgive while also using discernment. I’ve forgiven people plenty of times, but some have hurt me more than once, especially when their behavior didn’t match their apology. I can forgive, but I choose to move forward with wisdom to protect myself and my mental health. I’m discerning with who I give second chances.

I agree, but making sure that when you forgive ppl who have wronged you genuinely forgive them. Which means not participating in negative talk about them, or holding what they did over them anymore. Just letting it go & giving it to God, which honestly is something I struggled with bc it takes me a while to get over things. But I agree that you don’t have to grant them access to you once you felt like you were wronged. You can wish people well, love them from a distance, and most importantly pray for them

Just because you forgive doesn’t mean they still get access to you. I’ve forgiven but I haven’t let them back into my space/life. God does give us many changes though which I am greatful for. But I’m only human 😫

God is a kind and forgiving God but He is also sovereign and all knowing. When God warns you about a person it’s not because He doesn’t love them it’s because He is the God of truth and He doesn’t want people to operate in deceit towards one another. He will tell you to forgive and love them from AFAR. God doesn’t tell us to be slow and keep letting people play in our faces 😭😂

You literally said everything I’ve been saying to my close ones. About ppl who have hurt me. I have struggled with forgiveness and there’s a fine line defining reconnection with it. I forgive you and love you from a distance with the love of God. But there is no need to have the relationship that once was. 🤍

I think it goes back to praying and asking God if you should re open the door and allow them back in because people do make mistakes and some genuinely grow are truly sorry and change. but using discernment. The word does say guard your heart above all else, so guard your heart but don’t build a wall.

This is my biggest problem. Someone can run me over with a dump truck and ima forgive them and forget like nothing ever happened.. & then be heartbroken when they do it again. I need to learn how to forgive but closed the door.

i absolutely agree on forgiving ppl & leaving them right where they’re at but i do contemplate on “hearing them out” & giving each other a chance to get things off our chest like would that be considered opening the door for them?
