the comments took me out "she should have chosen a more respectful eye" as if most traditional japanese places dont have a form of dress code and dont kick out people with visible tattoos. if they had found the prosthetic disrespectful they would have said something (but they didnt because they're not chronically online)

I'm so confused what's disrespectful. You were at a tea ceremony that's meant to be a fun educational activity for tourists. It's not like 1) your prosthetic will actually effect anyone and 2) you're at a formal or cultural event with some kind of strict dress code. Even at a matsuri, which is a religious event technically, your prosthetic eye wouldn't be disrespectful. 🤣

I have a nose ring and tattoos, and when I first moved to Japan, they dressed me up in a yukata and had me dance in a summer festival- I don’t think they’d find a prosthetic eye disrespectful.
