thevproperty taxes you pay for is to fully fund for supplies but they dont. we'd rather fight on this app then to fight the goverment to use the money for what its meant for

Getting teacher dry easer markers and tissues is one thing buying school supplies for kids who parents had the exact timeframe to get supplies and could have went to multiple places to get free supplies is another. you spend the whole summer going out and party and now you want me to supply them school supplies? That’s what parents have a issue with.

I don't mind buying for the class. especially the paper towels, Clorox wipes. Kleenex. and I will absolutely do for every class party. I have no issue with buying 500 packs of pencils. my issue is my kid picked out the prettiest stuff that she wanted and can't use it. if teachers or administration set the expectation that everything would be communal it wouldn't be an issue. and my kid is the kid with Walmart uniforms, shoes, socks, backpack. we don't do $200 shoes and sprayground backpacks. I'll buy for the whole class I just want my kids stuff to stay my kids stuff.

As a teacher, they are almost always the parents that had kids because society told them to. They don’t willingly hang out with their children. They are the parents that show up to open house and will be crickets the rest of the year. It’s always them.

my feeling is if parents really have an issue go to the school board meetings. Talk to the superintendent. Don’t complain about it online or blame the teachers. Be involved getting involved with the district in the schools. I have three kids. I have no problem supplying them with what they need for school.

I love that my kids school let parents vote if we wanted lists or just a donation dollar amount and we chose the donation, so every year we pay $100 per kid and the school provides everything.

The same people complaining about "community supplies" are the ones who would get upset if a child brought birthday treats for only their friends and not the whole class.

I always feel like the biggest brownnoser because im constantly asking what else they need. I know the parents at our school and some of them are the worst so im trying to at least even it out so our teachers don’t run for the hills. 😬

I don't even have kids but I had a favorite teacher who is now a principal and I call her up and ask what can I bring for teachers and students because I want to give back. It's my second year doing this and it makes me feel so good.
