this is fair, want what you want and don't settle for less. but also understand that this is way less feasible economically than during the time when this relational set up was the norm. therefore the chances of you finding this is just a lot slimmer, good to be aware of. the majority of men and women want more 50/50 out of necessity, not lifestyle choice or romance. from this more informed view we can put less pressure and shame on individuals who are just trying to survive and place the blame more appropriately - an entire generation that enjoyed this lifestyle have let their selfishness create a system where what they got to enjoy is far less attainable. just the reality of the situation, hope it helps!

it’s kinda ironic how he calls THAT a “business contract NOT a marriage” when ORIGINALLY marriage has been a business contract that provides these things😭😭😭

as a child that comes from a sahm I appreciate the sacrifice my mom made. however when she worked i saw a different glow in her and wished she would have continued!

Oof. Good Christian men are supposed to be providers. Red flag on his part.

As a girl raised by a stay at home mom who went to church sometimes and a dad with the freedom to focus on building his business to provide for us…’business contract’ is an insane take.

Stand firm in your desires. On our second date, I told my now husband I wanted to be a SAHM & homeschool. And he relentlessly worked everyday to make that a reality for us. Real men want their wives & children to be happy!

My wife is a SAHM. We have 2 sons. I pay for everything and we raise our kids in the Christian way. Building our house this year. We have realized that we are now outsiders in this messed up world.

Don’t settle. I’m 31, currently a SAHW, no children yet and my husband is the most selfless and kindest man when it comes to providing. I wanted to stop working when kids came around but he gave me the option upfront and said his goal was to always make that an option for his wife and that he just wants me to do what makes me happy. Tending my home, husband and dog (my family) makes me happy so I stopped working when we married last year. We seek and serve the Lord and go to church Sunday’s. We will continue to live this life for as long as the Lord allows us. To date: the Lord has provided and surpassed fulfilling our desires and prayers. We don’t deserve it but are extremely grateful. Love is not JUST a literal contract, it is a COMMITMENT and oath to stay and work things out always.

well yea.. But are you 40 2 kids, 2 bds, no money , no stuff wanting that or are you 20s and ready to build a Life and a foundation for a marriage that last forever??? Details matter..

It is perfectly fine to want that- but set yourself up in case things to not work out. Do not let anyone be in control of your destiny- you are safer that way.

My mom was never a stay at home mom and it taught my brother and I life skills and independence. This SAHM mom culture comes off as laziness especially when your child is school age.

GIRL THIS HAPPENED AT MY JOB! And the manager was like “when my wife said she wanted to be a mom. I was like perfect! I will provide and you can do whatever you want. Work, be a sahm, whatever.” This is when my coworker literally said oh no that would never work with me. I think 50/50 is the way. And I just looked and ate my lunch in silence….

in a way he is right about other ppl relationships but I get your point completely...my fiancee wants to be a sahm and I be told her I accept it but that she should really work a few days in case something happens... many women who stay home end up regretting it later in life

Don’t lower your standards. My husband has made OUT dreams come true. I’m a SAHM & I homeschool. Finishing my college degree so soon I can make his dreams come true. It is a partnership.
