I don’t think Hades/Persephone because that seems to be the route that Sylus’ character is embodying with MC (the affinity rewards being pomegranate, references to the Underworld and her need to be in Infold/them to be apart) Asclepius hopefully 🤞 (I’m biased because I want the Hades Persephone to continue to be a Sylus thing alone)

I know people are saying Asclepius because of the rod but Zaynes has wings which is Hermes rod who is also a god of messengers and healing since Zayne is connected to the god of fate and a doctor I feel this would make more sense

i think he’s gonna be based off of hermes. on top of him being associated with death (dawnbreaker as the grim reaper and current tl zayne’s view of death as necessary), he’s also been shown to be a messenger of at least one god. additionally, hermes’ roman equivalent is mercury, and mercury is the planet that rules the virgo zodiac sign & zayne is a virgo. too many little coincidences me thinks

So he has the staff of asclepius doesnt have 2 snakes or wings; he actually has Hermes’ cadeceus. To his left, is a possible representation of Lord Hades, as he weilds a bident in more recent depictions, and if we take into acct the dead vegetation, relation in mythology of Hermes and Hades (the underworld) plus the implication of ice=death as well as the myth of hades and persephone, (in which btw hermes is heavily involved) they *MAY* take a greek myth approach to zayne which if so ohhhh am i PUMPED TO SEE IIIT.

So, from what I can see, the headless statue in the background is most likely Hades, because of the scepter he holds, and the scepter that Zayne holds belongs to Hermes, but the snake around his neck also refers us to Asclepius. Those who are into mythology will remember the conflict between Hades and Asclepius, and Hermes is also a Psychopomp, a guide of souls. Well… 🥲

I'm leaning towards more of a Hades/Persephone myth (the cycle of spring/winter and life/death). Zayne's other myths deal with escaping death, not him being a healer. So he could be a death god/messenger refusing to take the life of a woman he fell in love with.

Feel like he’s a fallen god that was dethroned because he didn’t control his power properly before being a messenger of Astra or a prophet smthn. Like he went out of control, then the head signifies he’s no longer respected. Smthn like that for me. Like he was eaten by his own power to the point he didn’t know who he is at that time. And i notice he’s like being assissinated. Like Zeus being hated by everyone because he abuses his power too much. It’s like his second life just started when Astra accepted him after being dethroned and making himself unknown to everyone again. Till he made another mistake which is betraying Astra for the girl he loves again. Well, idk. But i’m excited
