It took me a while but I finally finished watching it and to be honest, I was pretty underwhelmed by it.😬 The series follows Riri Williams, an MIT student we’re introduced to in the film “Black Panther:Wakanda Forever.” Following the events of that movie, Riri returns home to Chicago and becomes entangled with a mysterious gang leader known as “The Hood,” and she uncovers secrets that pits her advanced technology against powerful magic. Overall, the performances were strong and I appreciated the standalone story that didn’t have to keep referencing other events in the MCU. The pacing felt very sluggish at times with bits of action thrown in, scenes often dragged on for too long and in general I’m not a fan of characters who exist to replace other more popular characters, like Riri is supposed to be the new “Iron Man,” Sam Wilson is the new Captain America, you get my point. I’m not saying this to disrespect the actress for Riri, because her performance was great, I just couldn’t care less about the character, I don’t think it was necessary to give her her own show, especially since this one doesn’t push the MCU forward that much, it does introduce a major new villain but that’s about it. The show just felt like it was thrown out without much thought, the story and script were weak. So, compared to the other MCU shows, I’d put Ironheart towards the bottom end, just above the abomination that was She-Hulk.
