When I first started transitioning(the first pic) I got made fun of for weeks cause my hair looked “weird” or still “too girly” to be a man. Over the next few years I let it keep cutting me deep to my core until I started to change myself so people would like me. I wore baggy clothes to cover my curves, I tried make up to show masculine features, I deepened my voice when I talked, etc. Finally, when I turned 16, I chose my own haircut for the first time, I started standing up for myself to all of my bullies and haters online “I AM a man” I would say this at least 100x a day at school and at work and online. It felt like a constant battle with myself and others. After all of that, here I am today. A year and 2 months on T, in the best relationship ever with the love of my life, and an actual plan for my life. Being bullied made me never have a plan for…anything. So I want to share this message with anyone who feels like they can’t be themselves, especially trans men and women. YOU deserve to be 100% YOU. Wear whatever clothes you want, cut your hair how you want, do whatever makes you happy and hold on tight to it. People are gonna hate on you and try to beat you to the core of the earth but they can only do that if you let them. If they throw a punch, be a brick wall and break their knuckles. If times are hard now, please know it does get better and life does get to be good to you. You deserve to be happy, content, and radiate your own energy into this crazy crazy world. So, again, I promise things do get better, there will always be someone there to listen to you, cry with you, and hold you if you need. If you don’t have anyone, I’ll be that person. My dms are open constantly and I will sit with you when things feel hard and tell you about all the things that will get better. To all the trans people reading this: You are handsome. You are beautiful. You deserve love. You deserve a full life as yourself. Please don’t give up. To anyone else: I love you. You are worth it. You make this world a better place. Love, your brother, Brooks<3 #mentalhealthmatters #transmentalhealth #lgbtq #bullyingawareness #bullyingsurvivor
