My problem is I don’t know I’m anxious until I get random physical symptoms

You’re helping people with this. As a therapist who sufffered from anxiety, I recommend learning to not take anxiety seriously. No feeling lasts forever. It will pass.Getting anxious about anxiety intensifies it & makes it stick around longer. Shrug your shoulders at it. Literally.

This sounds really plausible and helpful but I don’t really know what it literally would mean to sit with it. Like, what would that materially amount to, and how would I know if I’m doing it successfully?

I believe this works and I can handle anxiety as an emotion, but the physical symptoms in my case are the ones that cause panic, vomiting, upset stomach, dizziness and can't stand the heat at all when the body overheats. It's hard to get over it because of the physical symptoms 😬

not an ad but DARE by Barry McDonagh is what turned things around for me. It is about the same general concept of allowing the anxiety and not fearing it. Makes you feel way more calm and in control

My anxiety is from lack of estrogen. I never had it and now at perimenopause I have it, not all types of anxiety are the same.

I heard of accepting through shaan Kasam he is good but I never properly got it until after the second time of reading Paul David’s at last a life and at last a life and more. I have been doing really well then had a bit of a setback but I know I am not as bad as I was previously, showing that I’m learning and still learning. I’ve had various episodes over about 23 years but this one has lasted three solid years. But accepting has made a big difference. I keep getting less intense symptoms. The only thing I’m struggling with a bit at the moment is the thoughts but every time one comes up I just say ‘what’s the next thought please’ And that’s when the mind gets confused as it can’t think of something on request in quick succession. Hope some of this may help xx

A therapist has me name my anxiety or symptoms/feelings. When I have anxiety/symptoms, like a crazy stomach, I just greet it by name. “Hey Paul, I see you’re here, that’s ok” (Paul was the pit in my stomach)

Just from the intro I knew it would be something along the lines of Claire Weekes' technique! She made the biggest impact on me.
