I implemented a journal system. At the end of every session one player writes a journal from the perspective of their character on what happened. We then read that at the beginning of the following session. Some characters are serious and others are silly. The bards have often only talked about who they tried to go after which makes for a funny recap "Yes, they were a villain but also hot"

What I do with my games is what I like to call “Best Worst Recap”. We go around the table, doing recaps of the last session. The person we decide had the best recap told in the worst way gets a point of inspiration. It helps everyone get into the habit of mental note taking without having to really take notes for the small stuff. It also tells me as a gm what stood out to my players.

My table live streams our sessions we always have to recap. Not just for players but chat too. Used to be rotated amongst the players. Now DM. Heheh
