If they've been there for you from the beginning, they should know who you truly are and be able to defend your reputation, even in your absence. It doesn't matter how 'good' the relationship might be with your mom or anyone else—betrayal still hurts. Over time, you learn to forgive for the sake of your own peace, but that doesn't mean things go back to the way they were.

Your own mother. Imagine being told, “you’ve been a pain in my neck since the day you were conceived.” Yeah definitely family. I was called a bad seed since I was a little girl. My entire family was led to believe I was a demon child. My own mother created this narrative. I attempted suicide at the age of 12. I’m 42 years old and I just cut her out and no one asks her what she did as a mother to make her own child cut her off. I’m the bad one. I’m doing it to save my daughters and son, grandson from her and myself. I still have a chance to be happy.
