alright let's talk big boy stuff. Bore the block, Get bigger diameter pistons for higher compression, Run a 8lbs fly wheel. Slap some Itbs on with higher injectors, And map the ecu or change it. Greedy, Piggyback, anything modern. Congrats you now have a sleeper build!

Nope, 1st gen intake is best. Pair with 1st gen cam as well and then change crystal in ecu for a bit higher rpm limit. They shine over 6000rpm. The later is made for torque and low rpm

Okay i think the first thing to accept is that these afe/efe engines aren’t quick regardless unless you slap on a turbo. But to maximise the potential; air is important. Ported head, itbs. These are rev happy too but you want reliable rev happy. Valves, big cams with large lifts, exhaust diameter. you don’t want too big, you don’t want too small either. Next you want fuel for all this air. bigger injectors, nothing obnoxious, 450^ would suffice. Fuel rail, bigger pumps. Now the block itself. You want high comp pistons. 12 and up. Forged crank/rods. Now to help rev smoothly you want a lighter flywheel. With all that now in place you need an ECU. standalone is the way to go.
