@ladyforge: This exquisitely detailed pattern was another of Antoine Heller’s masterpieces. One of the most striking multi motif patterns created for the Gorham Co, the Versailles pattern was designed in 1888, and is comprised of 13 unique scenes featuring romanticized courtly figures and mythological scenes. Each lavishly framed in Rococo shells and scrollwork, Neoclassical architectural elements, and Baroque ornamentation. This thoughtful figure is a sweet Putto, or cherub, which I’ve dubbed the Versailles fairy. Antione Heller was truly a master of multi motif patterns. Each design so completely unique, it’s difficult to tell they were created by the same artist. He truly put a different soul into each pattern. The Versailles pattern was designed to stand the test of time and was destined to be an heirloom. Made of a substantial amount of silver, this beautiful pattern makes a glorious non-spiral spoon ring comfortable in a wide range of sizes.
