parents want to ensure their kids get the quality items they purchase and then also contribute to communal supplies. But too many buy good quality stuff and their kids come home with dollar tree and crazy art pure trash. or left handed scissors then they end up with right handed scissors. if you let people know ahead of time that cheap brands won't be accepted and it's communal supplies then there won't be any issues

Whatever my child’s teacher wants, they are going to get. They get enough grief from having to deal with 20-30 kids a day for 180 days. If they want a bottle of wine, I’ll get them a case 😅

I am buying whatever I can on random teachers lists. If it helps my kid learn, I’ll help contribute. That was part of my childhood experience. All the decor & things my teachers did for me. This year my son is 7th grade. And his list will be $80-120. I have compared prices. It’s a lot more than any year before. I did wonder how many will afford it. And this list is not for anything communal like wipes or tissues. It’s straight supplies he needs. 4 2 inch hard binders alone is $18-25. His list is 15 items long.

But you have Tom parents they say they’re not gonna buy anything for the classroom expecting people that are buying other parents who are buying for the classroom to step up and to take that heat but then you also got some teacher says if you don’t bring exactly what I have on my list I don’t want it. Maybe they can afford it. Maybe they can’t find it because everybody else is buying the name brands you ever stop and think about that teachers for the teachers that are putting the parents down that I do for their children are wrong when the teacher asked for people to come and helpyou put the parents down so why do it?

I would like my kids to have thier own supply and have the teacher request to adopt a student supply list for kids whos parents can't supply. For example a list of supplies for a kit to provide those kids who has shitty parents or just parents who simply can't afford them. 1st off, I need to make sure my baby is taken care of. That's my take on it. 🤷♀️Some years I'm in a position to help and others, I can only afford for my child.
