ily madeline but this really just sounds like a lack of political pluralism and an almost deliberate conflation of anarchism and libertarianism. that commenter sounds like a libertarian, not an anarchist. the whole point of anarchism is decentralized communism where worker and consumer advocacy groups work together to meet each other’s needs on a local level. any anarchist i know in that situation would say yes the consumer soviet would meet with the farm worker soviet and figure out how to use their labor to feed the community without infringing on workers rights. that’s why it’s at a local level, so that the consumers are members of the workers community and visa versa, therefore not really leaving room for the dismissal/ dehumanization of either group. i consistently fail to see why this is hard to understand. i’m an anarchist and i’m always super glad to see even social democracy move forward, i just think even in those societies, as well as socialist societies, there is inherent power imbalance due to the existence of a state and therefore hierarchy and as we on the left all (should) know exploitation is inherent in situations of power imbalance.

Eeeh..what? As an anarchist I ain’t got shit in common with that black and white brain fart 😂 And no, I don’t go hunting for proof that socialist states are bad either. I always make sure to defend them since the threat is capitalism. I see anarchism as practicing the end goal of communism here and now. That’s obviously not going to be a threat to the government as long as we’re operating within a nation-state system, one where people are highly individualistic as well (as was the case with the “anarchist” in this story).

Huge fan of yours. Huge fan. And yet I have a hard time describing deeply informed anarchists (David Graeber?) as tools of the capitalist state.

one thing I've learned about people that identify solely as anarchist is that they tend to believe ALL CIA propaganda about communism.

I'm an anarcho-communist in that I think that we need to go from capitalism, to socialist democracy, to socialism, to "true" communism (I know they're basically the same but yeah), before we could transition to actual "anarchism" (no government but the people)... because we need to have kinder systems in place to create a population that is kinder as a whole. Anarchism doesn't work if people aren't (or can't be) interested in the macro instead of the micro.
TLDR: I'm idealistically an anarchist, but I understand that we are nowhere near a position to do that right now, so realistically I'm a communist.

Tbh it concerns me that under Anarchy, resources and services might not be spread out equitably. There's no reason why a reactionary community couldn't just starve all its old or disabled people.
Having a centralised government also allows things to be produced as efficiently as possible (w less negative environmental impacts) to create more time for creative pursuits and leisure.
Communism just seems like the most practical solution logistically idk

Anarchism isn’t left wing. Anarchism is libertarianism to its full extent. It as far right economically as you can possibly go. You can’t be an anarchist while also wanting state operated universal healthcare, college, housing, etc.

Anarchists aren't a threat because literally every civilization has agreed that having a government is better than not 😂😂

it sounds like the anarchist you spoke to doesnt have a good grasp on theory. the state is what actively gives capitalists the rights to exploit people. private property exists because of the state. syndicalism allows us to collectivize needed resources.

Anarchists fail to consider that you need a state apparatus to build comprehensive infrastructure projects, Social programs & defense. China is so successful because they have a government that actually cares about their citizens.

I never identified as an anarchist, but I've definitely fallen into the trap of only seeing the bad and never seeing the good. Wanting to see it all burned to the ground because it felt like everything is evil. I realized that my beliefs were rooted in my own mental health struggles and trauma, and won't actually do anything to improve things.

Huh, I clearly don't know enough about anarchism. I would have said anarchism involved replacing government representatives with direct participation. Assuming this is true, I was grossly mistaken.

genuine question…do you believe that community and mutual aid and caring about each other as humans is less realistic and powerful than a government? because individuals make up the majority, a government makes up the minority

Honestly, it just sounds like you were a bad anarchist 😅. Another thing from COINTELPRO is to sow division via partisanship. Anarchism *is* a viable organizing ideology in the USA, especially in the more rural areas
