my party's PCs are still far away from really knowing each other, the other party members declared my PC as the party leader, I'm now thinking of trying to get to a setup where we play like a game or something to get to know each other better to have trust before a big fight against a dragon, we are level 5, is that a good or a bad idea?

gotta find the right group for it too. some dms don't consider non combat anyway to gain experience or level up. I once disarmed a group of bandits from fighting my group and nobody got anything for the encounter. so I never tried again.

love role playing between player characters, sometimes it goes a little off the deep end though. 2 hours later and they are still sitting in the same spot.
