Employees are the biggest chunk of profit loss? With employees there is no profit. layoffs Are by seniority. The buy out is trying to get the more expensive senior employees to leave by paying a small amount

They hired to many drivers. It’s getting back to normal. I’ve been here for 25 years. Layoffs have been happening since I’ve been here. Nothing new here. All the Covid hires are in jeopardy in getting laid off. High seniority drivers will be fine.

I would still rather have a ups driver deliver to me than a Fed Ex driver.

It’s crazy because your time line and company’s you’ve applied/worked for matches close to the same situation I was in. I started with Walmart 01-04-21. Can I ask why did you leave UPS. I applied for UPS in 06-21 they called me several times I of course ended up not going but they offered me a line haul position during the day basically meeting up with another driver swapping trailers then head back to the terminal and done for the day. I’ve been hating myself for not taking the job because it was an easy home everyday good paying job. But now hearing about the layoffs maybe it was a good thing. When I’m asked by other drivers should they come to work for Walmart I tell them Walmarts good but I would go to UPS if I was you. I feel UPS drivers make more money and have lots of benefits.

Let’s not overlook that during contract negotiations the union president yelled to everyone that would listen that they would strike. How many lost customers did that lead to? 😡

We also hired a ton of people for Sleeper teams. Our center was offering 10,800 hiring bonus and bumped pay to 30.00 hr and 71cpm during progression. This is an effort to give the senior drivers already thinking about retirement a boost to get them out the door.

It's a publicly owned company and the CEOs job is to make the shareholders happy. Time to restructure.

You hit the nail right on the head I’ve been At ups for 24 years almost 25 the problem is they are cutting back on staff but the people are going to suffer now because my building alone are rolling 11 trailers 9000 stops per day people are getting there packages for weeks at a time now not only that we are working 12-13-14 hours every day!

There is no reason that a 75 year old with 50 years in needs to continue working we have 60 in my building that can go tomorrow but refuse because since they decided to give 50 years ups owes them more then one years salary for that it’s extra money on top of your pension that’s not all they are giving you to live on

This happened in 2008 also. The layoffs aren’t what normal people think. Drivers can actually take the unemployment for more weekly pay then the insider work. I did for a few years. Worked when they called and during busy parts of the years. The sups got offered the payouts back then cause my center manager was one who took it.
