I had almost this exact same conversation when I was a 15 year old cashier at Kohls with a lady bc she had somehow kept a slip of kohls cash pristine in her purse for a whole year until the dates were valid again 🤦♀️she got really upset with me for showing her the year was wrong and of course doubled down and insisted she’d gotten it from us just the week before and I still remember it almost 15 years later bc it was right at the end of my shift and I left crying 😅
