My babysitter didn’t call my mom when I fell 12 feet off of a balcony on to a iron gate and landed on the cement - when my mom got home she told her I was bad girl because I fell. My mom immediately made her take us to the hospital. She was not allowed to watch me after that.

I really did have an adult babysitter leave me & my niece alone and I became the babysitter. I was 11. My sister lived in Grand Cayman. She has 2 little kids & was in law school. My dad hired a babysitter here & sent me and the sitter to Cayman to babysit/play with my nieces. I got homesick & the babysitter too. She convinced me to call my dad. My older niece was still in school, but my younger niece was 1. So my dad flew me, the baby, and the sitter back home. The first night we were back the sitter showed me how to make the baby’s bottle and left. And I babysat my 1 year old niece the rest of the summer. My dad would bring us food and check on us and my mom would come home early from work. But during the day 11 year old me was babysitting! Now I own a kid business. 🤷🏽♀️

My dad didn’t know I was napping when he left & thought I had already gone to the ball field with my mom…I was 7 and still bring it up 26 years later. One thing about me, Imma take a petty grudge to my grave 😂

Am I overprotective or is it insane to let kids watch kids? I can’t imagine leaving my son with a 16/17 year old let alone a 14 year old. Now I’m not judging your mom because that what went on back then. And it’s not because I don’t think teenagers can’t be responsible, it’s because as a grown mother…there have been so many times when I’ve been thrown for a loop. And I have experience as a teacher to young children.

My grandma left me home alone as an infant. She left to go cover someone’s shift as a nurse. My parents were out running errands and saw her driving to work. That’s how they were informed she was done watching me. They came straight over to get me.
