@hr_explained: Replying to @Xxxxxxxxxxxx I really have no idea why employees think HR is in charge at companies and why HR’s job is to make sure the company doesn’t get sued. Managers are the very front line of defense against litigation. HR isn’t managing all the staff day to day and their work environments. Good managers that follow laws reduce and prevent lawsuits. Excellent HR cannot overcome poor management. Companies and leaders do not have to take HR’s advice or recommendations. They don’t even have to take Legal’s recommendations! Employees also seem to believe that if HR doesn’t fix their work environment, then HR has no point. This only demonstrates that many employees have no idea (usually by choice) what business functions HR provides for companies. HR’s main job isn’t yelling at your manager or your coworker. HR provides many necessary business functions for companies - whether you want to admit it or not. It’s like claiming IT is worthless because you choose to not understand what they do.
