Spam. Every communication channel is gradually saturated and rendered useless by spam. Email and voice calls are mostly gone. SMS is going. We let it happen over and over again.

Email was corrupted by businesses. If email was just from people I know sending me things I would use my email more. Most is spam and things I didn't ask for

Email is basically regular mail now. Mostly ads and junk you throw out right away, some bills mixed in that you set on the counter & deal with later, and maybe one or two things every once in a while you actual want.

Remember when we used to write letters on paper and send via the US postal service? Then we had telephones. That was pretty good. But email, that was a game changer. Wasn’t that good enough? We went too far. Sometimes more is just more.

I have a "no junk mail" sign on my letter box. I still get junk mail every now & then. My email inbox is overflowing with junk mail & I don't know where to stick the sign.

Oh you want personal email. It's the same as snail mail... letters were fun until capitalism took over and made it all ads/bills. Capitalism ruins everything.

We “gave up on it” because of the overwhelming amount of spam that showed up in our inboxes. And I say this as an elder Gen X, because our Silent Gen and Boomer relatives forwarded every chain letter and racist joke they received.

Yes!! Everyone is saying bcc of stores and promotions and stuff, do you not have two separate email accounts? Like I have one email that’s personal that’s just for stores and things and one that’s for other things. I mean I actually have many email addresses but two clear personal but for different uses. And Gmail separates promotions and spam from normal emails anyway??

I don't know if you've ever seen Will and Harper? It's a documentary about Will Ferrell and his trans friend Harper, as they embark on a road trip through America. Excellent watch. Will knew Harper from long before she transitioned though and at the start of the movie Harper tells us she E-MAILED Will to come out as trans to him. EEEEEE-MAAAAIIIILLLLLUH?

I still use email. It works better for longer messages and for ones that aren't urgent. For short or urgent messages, I use some form of chat message.
