If you can be as clean as your heart desires and your partner supports you in that even if they aren’t as clean as you, this will be an area of acceptance. If your partner trashes the house and makes it impossible to keep things clean at all, but you don’t say anything, you are abandoning yourself. I know that’s an extreme example, but when you break it all down ask yourself this question: Can I still live out this core value even if my partner doesn’t share it? If YES, then accept your differences. If NO, then have a conversation or change things up so you aren’t abandoning yourself in the relationship. That only leads to resentment.
