yeah I don't get why it became a part of our culture because it is similar so we naturally adopted it into our culture it's not like we got... culturally erased almost 70% or something like what the Spaniards did to the Philippines we still very much have our own unique identity and what not.

bruh, in Malaysia you CAN be european, Indian, Bangladeshi, Chinese, african, and basically everybody onnearth and identify as malay as long you're Muslim, speaks malay, and practice malay culture. but Batak, balinese, minahasa, Toraja, etc who has similar DNA are not considered as malay? hopefully it's not the same with malay indonesian.
