I started trimming my oldest’s hair at home around 3 when the ends kept getting snagged, then at the stylist around 4, but still just trims, she likes it long. My second is almost 3, still 0 need for a haircut, she’s only just getting to the point where we can put it in a ponytail

My daughter is 3 with hair down almost to her waist. I was going to get it cut before school starts up again because she doesn’t like to have it brushed (we still do it of course) and it gets caught in her armpits when she’s changing, etc. but I was talking to her about it today and she doesn’t want it cut, so I guess we’ll wait.

As a stylist and put basically, if not cutting her hair is affecting basic hygiene then it needs to be cut. Plain and simple.

cutting her hair won’t really resolve the tangle situation unless you go short short! we’re waiting untill right before kindergarten, as it’s tradition for me to get my haircut every year before school starts. we’ve done bangs and stuff around 18 months, but no full cuts yet

We are traditional in our home and we believe girls should have long hair and boys should have short hair. So we will not be cutting our daughter hair at all except to have the dead ends trimmed just for maintenance. That’s it. But that’s just our home. Every home is different. 🥰

I kept my dauohair in a cute bob until at 4ish she wanted to grow it out. At that point I told her we can grow it if she is patient enough for me to help her with the maintenance. She is 10 and we still have the same rules. She just decided to get her long hair cut to shoulder length so it’s easier for her to brush after the pool.

I am the person who washes, dries, brushes, and styles her hair. It gets cut when it's too long for me to manage. She was 4 when she got her first. And 2 since then. She's 6 now

My oldest had her first trim recently at 4. It didn’t really need done until then. My 3yr olds hair is fine and she doesn’t need her first hair cut year. But if it’s tangled and out of control time for a cut!

I’ve been trimming my daughters hair since she was about 9 months old , first time was because it was directly in her eyes , now it’s so her curls grow in nicely and even

she was 11 months old. I don't know what you daughter's hair looks like like but I see a lot of little girls walking around with stringy rat tails just so parents can say they have "length". people flipped about how short her hair looked but I thought it was cuter than a rat tail plus her grew more evenly 🤷🏻♀️

Cosmo here. It sounds like time. 🖤
Get her a little trim and when those crusty ends are gone it will be so much more manageable and probably more beautiful because it will be healthier and softer. 🖤

My daughter was 3 when I cut her hair for the first time. I cut it because she asked for short hair 🤷🏼♀️my husband didn’t like it but it’s not his decision, it’s hers

My daughter got her first hair cut at like 3.5? Only because the ends were getting really knotty and brushing it was a horrible experience all around. It’s been over a year and she hasn’t had another one yet🤷🏼♀️

I cut both my girls hair for the first time around 18 months. I'm a cosmetologist so I did it for both of them. since they wouldn't start getting split in. They get trims every few months

We did small trims till 6 And ended up CHOPPING half her hair off due to tangles/breakage/uneven growth. Do a good 2 inches now to save in the long run. Also we braid/ponytail/bun almost everyday. We ain’t dealing with it over here

my 2 older girls were 5 before they got there first hair cut but my youngest was 1 because she has had 3x more hair then my first 2. and I feel you I told her I wanted to go get her hair cut short because it's a pain to just get a brush through it let alone do anything with it

My oldest got her first trim 3 days after turning one to even up her little mullet and begin getting used to it. My second is scheduled to get her first trim at 14 months to even it up.

We did the most minimal trim a couple of weeks before 3. By about 8 weeks later it was almost down to her bottom and I didn’t want to deal with that all summer. She got 2-3 inches taken off and we’ll probably just maintain that length.

just got my youngest hair cut at the beginning of summer because she cut it herself and we needed to get a couple inches off so it looked a little better.

we let them pick and both our girls picked around their 4th birthday. BUT there wasn't knots or anything like that my son was almost 4 when he got a trim and his first big chop was at 5

My daughter is 3. Dad got a massive chop and she decided she wanted one too. We got her just a little trim to even it up and it’s so much easier to manage now

My middle got her first hair cut at 8 months cuz she literally couldn't see anymore lol it was always in her face and she hated having it up. My youngest is almost 3 and still hasn't had a hair cut. It's different for every kid

I don’t remember what age my daughter was, but once she and I were both upset about how tough it was to get through the scraggly ends, that’s when we did it.
