If if you have protective supervision, and your child goes to school, hours are removed due to school being considered an alternative resource. However, the amount of hours that are removed never impacts the total hours of 283.

My case manager for IHSS declined my protective supervision for my son. Her exact words were “You can keep a record of that but we evaluate the client at intake (which has already been completed) and Reevaluation that is completed once a year (next year). Keep in mind that as a parental responsibility , we also look at what environmental factors and modification are being set up by the parent to keep child safe in the home.”

However, if your child is getting assistance like bathroom assistance at school, those hours will be reduced in your bowel and bladder column as an alternative resource because they are receiving that assistance at school.

I had my visit with my social worker 2 weeks ago and she said we didn’t qualify because my son is 3 and it is my job as a mother. But she said I can apply for protective services. So can you only get one or the other. We’re in California
