While my girl Kelli (@thegratefuldogproject) was driving our new Dobie angel to her vet appointment today, she spotted this disgusting flyer. To the @americankennelclub : These backyard breeders plaster “AKC certified” like it’s a badge of honor, so which is it? 1️⃣ You’re certifying these backyard exploiters. 2️⃣ Or you’re doing absolutely nothing to stop them from using your name to peddle cruelty. Either way, you’re complicit. Let’s be clear: there is nothing noble about preserving “pure bloodlines” while shelters are overflowing and innocent dogs are dying by the thousands. Your nonprofit status protects tax breaks- not lives. You hand out ribbons for posture while we comfort the dogs dumped by the breeders you encourage. But hey, who has time to care about slaughtered shelter dogs when there are awards to give for symmetrical testicles? You have zero programs to stop backyard breeding. You spend zero money trying to help dogs. You add to the population and you cost more innocent lives. We all support @peta ‘s lawsuit against you.
