As someone with a platform, I’ve always felt a deep responsibility to try to add value and make a real world impact — and that’s why I’ve spent years working in the humanitarian space and keep using my platforms for fundraising. The images we’ve been seeing lately— of hunger, malnourishment, and desperation — are absolutely HORRIFIC. I had a meeting with @Droplets of Mercy USA to get better clarity on the situation, and what I was told is heartbreaking: - only a few of the borders are open - aid is actually being processed but so slowly that when trucks get in, it’s simply not enough to go around - our brothers & sisters are starving while aid sits in limbo However! Trucks are getting in slowly and several borders are open. I’m trying to see the positives — and in sha Allah this will change soon and things can flow in and reach them. The most urgent thing we can do from our homes to make a difference is to focus on packing more food boxes and queuing more trucks at the borders, so they’re ready go the moment entry is permitted. This is a humanitarian crisis layered on top of more crises, and every ounce of nourishment we can get them matters. So, I’m launching an emergency fundraiser.
