Not a chance. The banks have closed most of their local branches ready for the day they go digital. Forget the smoke screen it will happen. We need total non compliance but too many people are still in denial.

The main reason behind this is simple with a digital £, it’s very difficult for the UK to remain the MONEY LAUNDERING center of the world. if all transactions are moved to a blockchain ledger, what would happen to all that illegal, unaccounted for money coming into UK?

No, they're just changing their tactics... I predict it will be forced upon businesses by the banks forcing them to force it on their employees. Kinda like what they did a couple of years ago with a certain thing they pushed. The government got everyone else to do their dirty work through compliance

As an Irish patriot in the U.K. 25 years, the U.K. must not adopt these changes and Mrs Thatcher (the best Prime Minister the U.K. has ever had) would have taken exactly the same view - the Governor of the Bank of England is entirely correct on his revised current stance on this and must stand his ground on this issue, resisting all efforts in this regard
