As a white person with piebaldism, the amount of times I get asked why I chose “to only bleach parts” of my hair is frankly ridiculous. One of my coworkers has asked no less than a dozen times, even tho I’ve explained it and showed baby pics that prove I was born with my white spots in my hair 🙃🙃🙃

People with darker skin actually have a completely different type of melanin called eumelanin. White people have pheomelanin!

White people= less melanin, albinism= no melanin, vitiligo (which white people can have too!)= patches of skin that lack melanin this can spread throughout life

We all have the same amount of melanin. Darker skin tones just have more active melanocytes. The only people who don’t have melanin have albinism but nothing to do with race as she said.

I have never heard that misconception before. On another note, I can think of a movie adaptation where you would be marvelous... an old novel had a character with albinism.
