My brother kept his doubts silent for 6 years before I went to him with mine. It broke my heart he struggled alone that whole time. Truth has no reason to hide and should be talked about openly.

your story has been so helpful for me as I recently decided to step away and it feels like I see too much content of people stepping away who are much more polarized against the church when I think there is still a lot of good there and have many people I love in it. otherwise, its believing members that do not understand our journeys as much. 🩷

It is a weird taboo thing in the church that u can’t/shouldn’t talk about the things that’s to difficult to believe. I’ve even heard of people who talk to their bishop about their questions and the bishop flat out tells them they cannot talk about their questions to their spouse or parents or children. Basically just suffer alone. 😢

People who dissuade you from speaking your truth, being vulnerable, and being open are often doing so because they 1) can’t do it themselves and 2) because it puts cracks in their reality that they don’t want to have to deal with. You’ll notice how neither of those reasons actually have anything to do with you. ❤️You are inspiring! Keep speaking out! ❤️

Agnostic Atheist Mormon here. Love your honesty and vulnerability. Also, there are lots of us who no longer believe in God literally, but very much support loving others and being genuinely good people. Lots of the teachings of Jesus resonate strongly with me. Anyway, just saying I have a similar story to your journey, but no longer believe in God.
