The Women’s Professional Fastpitch League (WPF) is changing the game — literally. What started as a dream is now a real path for post-college athletes to keep competing at the highest level. Watching the Atlanta Smoke hit the field in their new home city was something special — especially at the same place I started my college career. If you didn’t know — they were formerly the Texas Smoke, and they didn’t come here empty-handed. They brought back-to-back WPF championships with them from 2023 and 2024, proving they’re a force to be reckoned with in this league. And here’s what made it even cooler for me… I got to see Coach Cat Tarvin on the field — who played at Kennesaw State her freshman and sophomore year. I remember watching her pitch there when I was younger, dreaming to be on the same field that she was on. Watching her come back and now coach professionally? It was just super fun to see and brought me back to the little girl who dreamed of being a KSU Owl, who at the time would have loved to know that I could dream to play professionally. Seeing professional softball take root here in Georgia — and across the U.S. — is powerful. This generation of girls now has something we didn’t grow up seeing: a league to strive for after college. Real careers. Real contracts. Real role models. If you’re a parent of a softball player, let this be your reminder: the ceiling has been raised. Let’s keep our girls dreaming big, training smart, and chasing the highest level of the game. #DeepBreath #NextPitch #LiveLive #FastPitch #Softball #Pitching #WPF #AtlantaSmoke
