when my son was 13ish he had been complaining of knee pain for months. I chalked it up to growing pains. finally saw a doc and got testing done, turns out he had a tumor behind his kneecap that needed to be surgically removed.

I had been experiencing constant aches and pains in all my joints, especially in my jaw to where I couldn’t eat. at the beginning of this year. I was told it was normal body aches from having the flu and that i was fine, to stop being overdramatic. Had my wisdom teeth removed hoping it would help the pain i my jaw and it didn’t help. It was to the point I was crawling around in pain bc i couldn’t walk. I advocated for myself to my parents and doctors bc I knew the way I was feeling wasn’t right or normal. 6 months later I got diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and am waiting to get tested for Lupus. All we do know fs is that i have an autoimmune disease that im stuck with for the rest of my life that will affect my ability to live and move normally.

I was the child, but this was typed by my dad.
about 8 or 9 years ago was the first time my daughter complained of pain. she kept saying her back and hips and legs hurt all the time. she was always tired and struggled to stay awake in class. she'd had spinal surgery a bit before the complaints started, so I chocked it up to her body getting used to the bars in her back. she never stopped complaining and kept getting so sick and landing in the hospital every time. she graduated high school and started working, but I noticed she moved so much slower than she used to. and then she moved out at 21. she was in physical therapy for a while to help the pain, but walked with a cane, and stayed seated most of the time. she finally found a different doctor and got diagnosed with Lupus and sciatica in her hips. if my wife and I had listened, she could have been getting treated for years.
