I think the main thing I’ve seen is that people end up trying poly relationships, have a bad experience, and then assume that /all/ poly relationships are bad because “how could it possibly work”, when 90% of the time they don’t work out due to poor communication

the reason i get upset when i see a poly relationship is because my ex broke up with me because she suddenly put of nowhere wanted to be in a poly relationship with some other people. has nothing to do with me not liking poly relationships as a type of relationship, more of a truama response to something that happened to me that really sucked.

i was in an evil poly relationship and every other poly person ive met is genuinely so evil BUT yk whatever man its your life i just had evil experiences i just feel bad for some people who SEEM (giys, seem) like they were in my situation (their partner dating/favoriting other partners) like idk not my life i dont know private conversations i just want everyone happy

Not hate but not my taste. I am way too clingy as a person that I will get jealous and mentally take a toll if I see my partner with someone else. If others can do it the good for them :))

I wrote a whole essay on this exact thing, it's not the whole poly dynamic that's creating these bad relationships, and creating the narrative that a lot of poly people are annoying/self centered/obnoxious or trying to separate from "the bad ones" is literally not helping

like many forms of bigotry it’s projection, + the cultural pressure of manogony. they’ve been taught manogony is their only option, so they shame anything outside of that. or they for some reason can’t fathom relationships/boundaries that operate differently than their own.

Poly people deal with jealousy and insecurity too. I won't speak for everyone, but for myself processing it is necessary and makes me a better person. mine often stems from wanting to be like their other partners (trait wise) but not having put the work in to be that way yet.

part of it is bc a lot of poly ppl aren’t conventionally attractive so they have this delulu idea that we can only get with ppl if we’re not their only partner
